Summit Station, Greenland – June 7, 2019

Another busy day at Summit Station! After some final tweaks to the drill, we began moving the hardware to the drill site. We devised a clever plan (because what are engineers for?) and were able to safely lower the 150 kg drilling platform down into the 1 meter deep upper trench. After assembly of the deployment structure and mast onto the platform, the next challenge was getting the pre-assembled dome tent over the deployment structure now sitting roughly 4.5 meters above the ground. Luckily, there were very low winds and we were able to keep the plan simple: pick the tent up, turn it on its side, and rotate it into place. It made for a great picture, as you can see! If the weather holds, we should be moving the final component over tomorrow… the drill! Stay tuned!
