Summit Station, Day 24, 6/27/19

Mike’s first visit to the drill site was spoiled with some bad news on the instrument side. We fear that the photomultiplier tube (PMT) on the fluorescence side will need repair or replacement. We will return to the site tomorrow morning for one additional power-up attempt, and if no luck we will begin the process of moving the drill back to Summit Station.

On a lighter note, you may be asking yourself what’s this flag that we are holding. It just so happens that Mike is a member The Explorers Club and he applied for and got this accepted as an official Explorers Club Flag Expedition.  The Expeditions always have traditional photos of expedition members holding up the flag in some of the coolest field research spots in the world, promoting the advancement of scientific exploration. Thanks for including us Mike!
